Star filly Snowfall (8-15 favourite) changed gears for Ryan Moore and went from second-last to first in just a few seconds, halfway down the home run at York on Thursday afternoon. She won the G1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks by an easy four lengths in a time of 2:26,61.
Snowfall packed too much power Albaflora and La Jaconde; Wonderful Tonight mildly disappointing in fourth.
Trainer Aidan O’Brien, impressed, said after the race: “She has always done things easily. She has has matured and will be ready for autumn now. We’ll maybe one more run before the Arc.”
Moore, equally chuffed, said: “The race fell apart quickly and she was in front two-and-a-half furlongs out. She did it easily though, she has improved.”
With more improvement to come into the Arc, bettors may want to snap up the 9-4 still available on some bookmakers’ boards.
