Tony has been a prominent racing journalist and owner/trainer advisor for more than half a century. In 30 years at the Daily Telegraph he was senior correspondent, Racing Editor and principal tipster for most of that time, winning the Sporting Life naps table three times (twice jumps season, once Flat).
He has written several books including ‘a Year in the Life of Frankie Dettori’, when that jockey rode his seven winners in one memorable day at Ascot. Tony needed to write an extra chapter after the book was in type (no internet then) to celebrate that incredible achievement.
Among the people Tony has advised have been David Loder, Jim Bolger, The Thoroughbred Corporation and Michael Dickinson. Since leaving the Daily Telegraph he has been Racing Manager to Raymond Tooth; during their association, they have enjoyed Champion Hurdle success with Punjabi, and Group 1 Flat-race success with Indian Ink and French Fifteen. This year, for the first time, he is responsible for the From the Stables.com feature and has won the William Hill Radio Naps Table competition at his first attempt.
